Europe

The European Union (EU) is a unification of 27 member states united to create a political and economic community throughout Europe. Though the idea of the EU might sound simple at the outset, the European Union has a rich history and a unique organization, both of which aid in its current success and its ability to fulfill its mission for the 21st Century.

The universities from continental Europe are heavily subsidized by their respective national governments. Most of the International Master’s programmes are offered with no or nominal tuition fee by the public institutions of Germany, Norway, Belgium, Italy, Finland and France. Though Sweden has introduced the concept of tuition fee from the year 2010, students can still target several scholarship options and avail the benefit of fee waivers. According to the list of World University rankings published be Times Higher Education Supplement, 19 of the top 100 universities in the world are located in the Continental Europe. The tuition fee at several established Universities in continental Europe was on an average about 1/4th of the tuition fee of the universities in the United States of America.
Companies in the EU are having difficulty finding suitably qualified staff to fill specialist positions in sectors such as Information Technology, Engineering and Biotechnology. Hence European member states are moving forward with implementation of the blue card from year 2011 which would grant work and resident permit to non-EU citizens and facilitate them to move to another member state.
CULTUREEurope is a beautiful mosaic of cultures; art products and art education can teach us, perhaps more than history itself, about daily life and global culture of a region. Europe becomes smaller as mobility increases and new technologies will lower barriers to co-operate with each other. This, and closer networking, will allow staff members of local cultural institutes to become strong intermediaries between the arts, the artists and the public, not only on a local level but also on a European level.
One of the primary conditions for a better co-operation and an intense cultural exchange is a better knowledge of each other and of the way we operate. Not only national cultural institutes have a mission to fulfil in Europe’s future. Also local actors in the cultural field do need a platform where they can meet, talk about their experiences, dream about projects in co-operation with partners all over Europe.
Multi-disciplinary cultural centres have their own way of acting, their own problems and fields of interest. The ENCC wants to be their platform: networking on a global level so as to be more effective in the local community.
ECONOMYThe economy of the European Union generates a GDP (nominal) of about €14.303 trillion (US$18.451 trillion in 2014) and a GDP (PPP) of about €12.710 trillion (US$16.773 trillion in 2014) according to International Monetary Fund,[1] which makes it the largest andsecond largest economy in the world respectively if treated as the economy of a single country.
The European Union (EU) economy consists of an internal market and the EU is represented as a unified entity in the World Trade Organization (WTO).
The Stability and Growth Pact sets out the fiscal criteria to maintain for stability and (economic) convergence. The Maastricht treatysets out more rigid criteria for the states joining the euro.
Denmark and the United Kingdom, not members of the eurozone, have special opt-outs concerning the later joining. Also, Sweden can effectively opt out by choosing when or whether to join the European Exchange Rate Mechanism, which is the preliminary step towards joining. The remaining states are committed to join the Euro through their Treaties of Accession.
